Dostana (1980 film)

Dostana is a 1980 Bollywood action drama film, produced by Yash Johar and directed by Raj Khosla. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Zeenat Aman, Prem Chopra, Amrish Puri, Helen, Pran and Paintal. The film was the Third highest grossing hit of 1980 after Qurbaani amp another of Amitabh Bachchans film released that year namely Shaan. Dostana was one of the last successful movies directed by Raj Khosla. The film was remade in Tamil as Sattam with Kamal Haasan.

Ravi admits his love for Sheetal to Vijay who is devastated but decides to sacrifice his love for Ravis sake. However, there is a misunderstanding when Daaga decides to stir up Vijay and Ravis friendship by showing Ravi a photo of Vijay and Sheetal. Vijay and Ravi become rivals for the first time. The rest of the movie looks at the conflict between Vijay and Daaga. After the misunderstanding, Ravi is on Daagas side but later learns the truth and atones for the his deeds.The court scene nearing the climax, when Ravi argues on the side of Vijay and saves him from legal punishment is impactful. And so are the action scenes, almost all of which were filmed on Amitabh Bachchan, who gave power packed performance in all of them. It was not without any reason that Amitabh was called the Angry Young Man and biggest action star of the era. ........
